Texas Mountain Laurels will soon be in full bloom! Mountain Laurels are budding out (pictured below) and will soon look like the photo above.

Texas Mountain Laurel (sopohora secundiflora) is a great native to plant in the Texas Hill Country. This ornamental tree is one of the first to bloom in the early Spring with showy purple flowers that smell like grape Kool-aid.

These native evergreens are drought tolerant and need good drainage. They can grow in full sun to part shade conditions. Mountain Laurels are deer resistant. Incorporate Texas Mountain Laurels in your garden!
